Amanda Wakut And Richard Eastin Obituary, LAKEWOOD, OHIO — Three people are dead following a murder-suicide that unfolded early Sunday morning on Chesterland Avenue, according to the Lakewood Police Department.

Authorities say officers were called to the 2100 block of Chesterland Avenue around 4:30 a.m. after receiving reports that a man had shot two people inside a residence and intended to take his own life. The situation quickly escalated as police moved in to respond to the emergency.

When officers arrived in the area, a pickup truck was seen leaving at a high rate of speed, prompting a pursuit. The chase continued for a short distance before the driver stopped near Warren Road. Police say the man then exited the vehicle armed with a handgun and, despite attempts by officers to communicate with him, he ultimately shot himself at the scene.

Inside the home, investigators later identified the victims as 33-year-old Amanda Wakut of Lakewood and 35-year-old Richard Eastin of Cleveland. Both were pronounced dead as a result of their injuries.

The suspected shooter has been identified as a 45-year-old man from Fairview Park. Authorities have not yet released his name as the investigation continues and next-of-kin notifications are completed.

Police say the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation as detectives work to determine what led to the deadly encounter. Officials have not released additional details at this time.
