3 Dead in Lakewood Murder-Suicide, LAKEWOOD, OHIO — Three people are dead following an apparent murder-suicide inside a Lakewood home, according to authorities investigating the tragic incident that unfolded on Thursday.
Police say officers were called to a residence in Lakewood after receiving a request for a welfare check from a homeowner who was out of town at the time. When deputies arrived at the home around 8:30 p.m., they observed circumstances that prompted them to force entry into the property.
Inside the residence, officers discovered three individuals who had suffered fatal injuries. Emergency responders pronounced all three victims dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that the victims included two children and an adult female.
According to investigators, preliminary findings indicate that the adult female inside the home fatally shot the two juveniles in separate rooms before turning the weapon on herself. Officials stated that there is currently no evidence suggesting the involvement of any additional suspects in the case.
The names and identities of the deceased have not yet been released, as authorities are working to notify extended family members, some of whom reside outside the country. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to process evidence and reconstruct the events that led to the deadly incident.
Law enforcement officials have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community. The District Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death, which will be included in a final report once the investigation is complete.
