Liam Payne’s Son Bear, LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — New court documents have confirmed that Liam Payne’s nine-year-old son, Bear Grey Payne, will inherit the late singer’s multimillion-dollar estate, valued at approximately $28 million, following the former One Direction star’s tragic death in October 2024.
Payne, who died at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, did not leave a will at the time of his passing. Under U.K. intestacy laws, his estate was placed under legal administration and ultimately directed to his only child.
According to probate filings, Payne’s estate was initially estimated at over £28 million before debts and expenses reduced the net value to roughly £24–28 million. The funds are being overseen by court-appointed administrators, including Payne’s former partner and Bear’s mother, Cheryl Tweedy, alongside music industry lawyer Richard Bray.
The court has confirmed that Bear is the sole beneficiary of the estate. However, the majority of the inheritance will be placed in a trust, meaning he will not gain full access to the funds until he reaches adulthood. In the meantime, limited portions may be used for his care and wellbeing under strict legal supervision.
Payne, who rose to global fame as a member of One Direction, had previously spoken about his deep love for his son and the importance of fatherhood. His sudden death in 2024 shocked fans worldwide and sparked widespread tributes from the music industry.
While legal proceedings surrounding the estate continue, officials have now clarified that no other individuals, including extended family members or former partners, are entitled to the inheritance under current rulings.
Bear is expected to inherit full control of the estate once he turns 18, marking one of the most high-profile celebrity inheritances in recent years.
