Isabella “Izzy” Thomas Obituary: 6-Year-Old West Terre Haute Girl Remembered After Courageous Battle With Cancer

Isabella “Izzy” Thomas Obituary, WEST TERRE HAUTE, INDIANA — West Terre Haute — Isabella “Izzy” Thomas, a 6-year-old girl from West Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer.

Izzy was born on November 30, 2019, in Terre Haute to her parents Shawn Thomas and Megan Cagle. She attended Sugar Creek Consolidated Elementary School, where she was known as a bright and social child who enjoyed being around others and bringing energy to those around her.

Family members described Izzy as joyful and determined, a child who loved swimming and always wanted to win at everything she did. Above all, she was known for her deep love for Jesus, which her family said remained central throughout her life.

She is survived by her parents, her “Mimi” who raised her, Helen Elkins, her brothers Mason Elliott and Matt Elliott, and her sister Kendra McConnell. She is also survived by her best friends Tracy Bays and Kari Beattie, as well as a close family friend, Jan Bowman, who was like a grandmother to her. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Rose Thomas and great-grandmother Patricia Fields.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at West Side Christian Church, located at 126 North 8th St., West Terre Haute, Indiana. Burial will follow at Bethesda Cemetery. Visitation will take place the same day from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the church. Services will be officiated by Pastor Chris Wilbur. Arrangements are being handled by Fitzpatrick Funeral Home. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to West Side Christian Church in Izzy’s memory.

Izzy’s family and community remember her as a joyful, loving child whose presence deeply impacted everyone around her. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
