Karyn Stratton Obituary, MARCELLUS, N.Y. — Karyn Lupo Stratton, 55, of Farmington, New York, has died following a tragic two-vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred on Sunday morning at the intersection of Route 20 and Slate Hill Road in Onondaga County, according to the New York State Police.
Authorities said the crash happened at approximately 10:10 a.m. on June 21 when a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Route 20 collided with a vehicle that had stopped at the intersection on Slate Hill Road. Investigators determined that the vehicle failed to yield the right-of-way before entering the intersection, resulting in the fatal collision.
Trooper Jennifer Jiron of the New York State Police reported that both riders on the motorcycle were ejected upon impact and sustained serious injuries. Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and provided medical assistance before transporting the victims to Upstate University Hospital for urgent care.
The motorcyclist has been identified as Bruce Stratton, 55, while his passenger was identified as Karyn Lupo Stratton, also 55. Both individuals were residents of Farmington in Ontario County. Despite medical efforts, Karyn Stratton was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Bruce Stratton remains hospitalized with injuries that authorities described as non-life-threatening.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, an 18-year-old from Jefferson County, was not injured in the crash. Multiple emergency agencies responded to the scene, including the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Marcellus Police Department, Marcellus Fire Department, and Marcellus Ambulance personnel.
The New York State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. No additional details have been released as of this time as officials work to determine the full sequence of events leading up to the crash.
