Kevin M. Esterly Obituary, ALLENTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA — Kevin M. Esterly, a 53-year-old man from Allentown who was previously convicted in a high-profile child sexual abuse case involving the abduction of a minor to Mexico, has died after an apparent suicide while in custody at the Lehigh County Jail.
According to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office, Esterly was found unresponsive in his single cell at the jail early Monday morning. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:16 a.m., Coroner Daniel Buglio confirmed.
Esterly had been convicted in connection with a widely reported case involving years of sexual abuse of an underage girl, as well as taking the victim across the U.S.-Mexico border. The case drew significant public attention due to its severity and cross-border nature.
