After his departure from Columbia following a corporate scandal in the 1970s, Davis made a historic comeback by founding Arista Records. There, he built one of the most successful independent labels in music history, continuing his reputation for identifying and developing major talent. He later founded J Records and remained an influential figure in the industry for decades.

Beyond his executive achievements, Davis also played a key role in shaping modern music culture through label partnerships and mentorship programs. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 and won multiple Grammy Awards for his contributions to the industry.
