Johnny Ramsey Obituary, YORK COUNTY, S.C. — Johnny Ramsey has died following a motorcycle crash Sunday evening in York County after authorities say he lost control of his motorcycle while attempting to avoid a collision with an SUV.
The fatal crash happened around 5 p.m. on June 21 at the intersection of Garvin Road and Ashe Road near York, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Investigators said Ramsey was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on Garvin Road when a Ford Expedition entered the roadway from Ashe Road. Officials reported that the SUV turned onto Garvin Road and into the path of the approaching motorcycle.
According to authorities, Ramsey attempted to take evasive action to avoid hitting the SUV. During the maneuver, he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed. Investigators noted that the motorcycle and the Ford Expedition did not make physical contact during the incident.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and provided medical treatment before transporting Ramsey to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts by medical personnel, Ramsey later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash. Authorities have not announced whether the driver of the Ford Expedition will face any charges, and additional details remain pending as investigators review the incident.
